Australia Zoo welcomes three gorgeous tiger cubs from Indonesia; the first Sumatran cubs to be released in over 27 years, introducing a new blood line into the International Breeding Program.

The three 12-weeks-old cubs, one male and two females, are pure bred Sumatran Tigers and were flown to Australia in a modified charter plane last week.

The tiger cubs will spend the next few weeks in quarantine at Australia Zoo where our dedicated tiger handlers will keep a watchful eye on the cheeky three 24 hours a day.

Sumatran Tigers are critically endangered with an estimated 400 left in the wild. The Sumatran cubs are invaluable to the International Breeding Program.

The cubs will be raised at Australia Zoo and in years to come will give the Zoo the breeding potential to support the International Breeding Program. For now, they are enjoying life at the Zoo and will soon be out on display helping to educate and raise awareness about tiger conservation.
