These outcomes are listed under the program title in an abbreviated form. Please be aware that undertaking the program doesn't mean the students have met that outcome.

Endangered Species

Imagine a world without the magnificent Cassowary, or our gorgeous Aussie icon, the koala. These guys are in a bit of strife! How would you feel if your favourite animal became extinct? Encounter some endangered species and find out what we are doing to help them.

Reptile Rap

Australia is the "Land of the Reptile". Take a look at how we group these fascinating creatures based on observable features. What makes a reptile a reptile? How is a skink different from a monitor?

Adaptations Worksheet
(Science LL 2.1, 3.1, 2.3, 3.3)
What is a "casque"? How do koalas keep from falling out of trees? Why do crocodiles laze around with their mouths open? Learn the answers to these and other questions about how animals are suited to the environments in which they live.

Australian Animals

Have a go at this! Parrots and pythons, dingoes and devils, kangaroos and koalas and Australia's apex predator, the Saltwater Crocodile. An introduction to some of Australia's wildlife treasures.


Self-guided Safari
The Bush Track
(SOSE PS 1.2, Science LL 1.1)
Scoot straight down the Bush Track and check out some of our great Aussie natives. Just jump on the Safari Shuttle. First stop – The Wetlands. Then simply follow the track.


Discovery Experiences
Koala Capers

Check out the size of this bloke! This is one of the new "Discovery Experience" programs at Australia Zoo. It's chock-a-block full of activities to do before and after your trip to the Zoo, all concerning Australia's cutest little icon, the Koala.

Think snakes are wet, cold and slimy? No way mate! We'll explore biological classification through Australia's fascinating, yet often misunderstood reptiles. What makes a reptile different from other vertebrates? What kind of lizard is a blue-tongue?

Do you know what a "Woma" is? Well it's possible you may never find out at the rate of their population decline! We investigate how animals have become endangered and ask students what can be done to ensure their long term survival.

Crocs rule! From lightning strikes from the water's edge to caring, protective mothers. How do the crocodiles' structural and behavioural adaptations help ensure its survival? We'll explore other animals too!
