BINDI'S 7TH BIRTHDAY

News Source: Weekender, page 28, July 15-21, 2005

Australia Zoo will become the land far, far away when Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s little girl, Bindi turns seven on Sunday, July 24, with a Shrek 2 live show in the 5000-seat Crocoseum stadium.

Bindi is one lucky little girl with this awesome birthday party and she’d like all children to come along and join the fun for free! As a way of giving back to the community, Australia Zoo is offering free entry to all kids (age 14 and under) on Bindi’s seventh Birthday. Crikey!

Kids will delight in this fairytale land as each corner reveals more excitement – the Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Charlotte’s Web and Cinderella will be smack in the middle of crocs, tigers, cheetahs, elephants and other native and exotic animals.

“Shrek is the most popular kid’s entertainment program in the world at the moment. We are lucky to have them coming to perform on the Sunshine Coast and all of us at Australia Zoo are really excited to be ale to share the experience with local kids for free,” says Sally Townsend, of Australia Zoo public relations, who thinks adults will enjoy the show as much as kids. As well as free entry and a free show, kids and kids at heart will be spoilt rotten with free stuff – cupcakes, face painting, colouring contest, pony rides, horse and carriage rides and more.

Awesome kids’ prizes will be drawn – a spring-free trampoline, dragon blood blow-up jet ski, girl’s 16’ bike from Beerwah Cycles, Toyworld toy pack, girl’s surf pack from S2S Surf, a family holiday to Whitsundays, Bindi Wear pack and cool Crocodile Hunter gear. All of this, not to mention regular wildlife attractions.

Australia Zoo holds regular special events with free prizes and entertainment to give extra to locals. “Every month there is a event to celebrate. It’s great for guests from overseas and other parts, but we put them on to reward local support,” Sally says.

Events include a month-long August promotion where photographic contest entrants could win a Fuji digital camera, Father’s Day in September, and Harriet, the giant Galapogas land tortoise’s 175th birthday.
