Leukaemia Foundation
Australia Zoo’s strong relationship with the Leukaemia Foundation began in 1999, and continues to thrive seven years on.
Twenty years ago, patients diagnosed with Leukemia faced a slim chance of survival. Today, thanks to medical research and breakthrough treatments, around seven in every 10 children and three in every 10 adults survive acute Leukaemia after treatment. To continue the medical research and assist families, every year here at Australia Zoo we dedicate one of our exciting promotional days to helping the Leukaemia Foundation by hosting a ‘Shave for a Cure’ event. Guests and staff at the Zoo are invited to colour their hair in crazy shades or shave their lovely locks off for this wonderful cause. Even the Irwin family has gotten involved (we still think blue and red hair looks totally awesome on Steve)!
